I started my career in 1995 working in the sales and marketing department. With users in mind from the very beginning, I designed and built my first website to enable customers to download drivers and firmware. I have been in product design leadership for 20 years – the past 10 years have been entirely remote. And I enjoy being an individual contributor as much as leadership – it keeps my skills sharp.

I hit the ground running in my 25+ year career. I am self-taught and a continual learner as experience design, and the tools and techniques we use, continue to evolve. If I don’t know the answers or techniques, I find them and learn them inside and out.

I always have the big picture in mind as a strategist (my #1 strength in the Gallup Strengths Assessment is “Strategic”), but I also get my hands dirty as an independent contributor and actively conduct research and design UX/UI on every project. It lets me operate at the lowest level of detail and keeps my skills sharp.

While I have worked in a number of verticals my sweet spots are healthcare, big data and ML/AI, data science, data visualization, security, marketing tools, and FinTech. I have worked primarily with large, multi-product enterprise clients – where the super chunky challenges are. But I also know how to take that big-business experience and apply it to lean start-up environments.

I routinely participate in business development efforts. I build relationships and trust with the teams I lead, cross-functional departments, clients, and customers. In an agency setting, I have a superpower for building client relationships that turn short initial projects into multi-year, multi-million dollar engagements.

Additionally, I have a passion for building comprehensive, accessible user experience Design Language Systems (DLS) that act as the single source of truth for product design and development. I strongly believe that a DLS should do far more than inform UI design. It should enable a consistent user experience with detailed interaction specifications, interaction content strategy, UI patterns, as well as a corresponding code library.

My combined sense of empathy, insatiable curiosity, extreme attention to detail and craftsmanship, and over two decades of experience in product design leadership make me a valuable powerhouse.

I was born and raised in Texas and lived the majority of my life in Austin. I moved to the Detroit area in August of 2020 (for love) and married my husband in August of 2021. I live with my husband, my two amazing elementary-age step-daughters, a dog, 2 cats, fish, and a bunch of houseplants. I also have a very talented adult son who made the move with me to Michigan and lives nearby. When I am not at work, I am an award-winning fine artist. My work has been shown in galleries across Southeast Michigan.
