While leading my primary clients, I also led and/or contributed to other client projects as a UX Researcher or UX/UI designer over the past several years. I like to get my hands dirty and keep my design and research skills up to date so I jump in to help my colleagues when I can.

Shifting from tickets to events, Alamo Drafthouse reinvents the theater experience (again)

Visionaries from Alamo Drafthouse are reimagining entertainment by leveraging social networks, state-of-the-art technology and luxurious surroundings. Guidea was tasked with prototyping and validating an end-to-end experience for hosts and party-goers from booking the space and sending invitations to controlling the media at the event and indulging in food & drinks. People love it!

Named ‘Visionary’ by Gartner 

In an eight-year partnership with Backbase, my agency led the research and design for their platform products and acted as their UX team for clients including Silicon Valley Bank, Nationwide Insurance, Re/MAX, Morgan Stanley, the United States Treasury, CitiBank, Hiscox and numerous credit unions. 

The consumer and business solutions we designed and validated for Backbase have won numerous awards including Best in Show Finovate Europe in 2014, 2016, 2017 and high rankings from Gartner and Forrester.

Real-Time Market Insights 

CarStory uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to help both consumers and dealers make confident decisions. 

My agency was first engaged in 2015 to design the CarStory website and later extended to also build the Dealer insights experience. We used generative research, story mapping, and rapid iterative prototyping & testing to quickly deliver successful products including the CarStory website and mobile app and the Dealer Tools and Market Reports.

Build once, use everywhere. 

Humana was launching new AI-driven products for population health management. Being a new territory for them, they wanted to get it right. My agency was engaged to build a UX Design Language System to guide existing and new product lines. This UXDLS includes hundreds of tested components and UX patterns for responsive web, native and wearable devices, as well as the corresponding, coded components—all of which can be easily modified system-wide for changes in brand language. 

Upon completion of the Design System, multiple groups within the organization now leverage the central repository when building new products.

Pioneering RASP, Real-Time Application Security

We led the design for the start-up Immun.io’s product which provides automatic detection and protection against security vulnerabilities in real-time, within web applications.

Immun.io was launched on September 30, 2015 at the ROR Conference. in April 2016 they closed 5M in series A funding, and were acquired by Trend Micro in 2017.

Let’s bring life to our Gifted & Talented assessment tools

Pearson’s Gifted & Talented assessment tool is used in many schools across the U.S. They were ready to move from analog to digital assessments but were struggling with design.

We partnered with the Pearson R&D team to create digital experiences designed to target the very specific cognitive abilities the assessment requires. From animation to prototyping and user testing, we delivered the new assessment for K-2nd, plus a library of patterns to build on for other grades. 

We conducted testing with dozens of students to optimize and refine the designs.

Explosive mobile revenue growth

Since 2013 RetailMeNot has successfully realized an omnichannel strategy for proactively providing deals to shoppers online and in-store, achieving five-star app ratings, and driving mobile revenue through increased customer engagement. 

According to current consultants, the Customer Experience research work is still relevant and being used in workshops to drive conversations around product and feature ideation.

  • An additional 2x increase in mobile revenue from 2013
  • “Best New Lifestyle App” rating by the Apple iTunes store
  • Five years later the CX Map is still being used!
